ROLAND TEC and his hard-hitting new play of this moment—a moment in human history unlike any other.

In July of 2022, Roland Tec began performing a solo show unlike any other he had ever produced before.

Unlike most solo shows in which the actor is on stage and the audience fills the seats, this play is designed to be a meeting in zoom. Everyone — audience and actor alike are logging in from home.

Each audience gathers with one clearly defined purpose: to pass judgment on the protagonist, Benj, a man who may or may not have had something to do with the insurrection of January 6, 2021.

Roland’s piece on Medium muses on the perils of choosing subject matter as troubling as this.

The audience remains unmuted with cameras on throughout, allowing for the possibility of direct challenges to whatever Benj is trying to sell.

In less than one hour with a Zoom room full of strangers, Benj tries to convince us that whatever role he may or may not have played in the January 6th insurrection, he is still worthy of full citizenship and his rights should not be revoked.

A Nagging Feeling Best Not Ignored bathes us in half-truths, distortions, distractions, denials, obfuscation and a healthy dose of white male rage thrown in for good measure.

A Nagging Feeling Best Not Ignored reminds us of how fragile all human relationships become when starved of a firm connection to truth.

No. There will not be video recordings of any full performances made available.

This piece is as much about the audience as it is about its main character and as such has been designed to allow for the audience’s response from start to finish to impact how everyone in the room feels at the conclusion of the hour.

The hour each audience spends with the character of Benj is uniquely transformational to all those present. It is a shared experience exclusive to those individuals who found themselves logged into the same Zoom room for that hour.

the only way to experience the show, a nagging feeling best not ignored, is to show up and participate as a living breathing audience member.
